Here are some interesting facts about the Washington Nationals:
The franchise was founded in 1969 when they were playing out of Montreal, Canada and known as the Montreal Expos. They were part of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) expansion and they were the first Major League team in Canada, prior to the Toronto Blue Jays arrival into the league. The team went through financial difficulties and was purchased by MLB in 2002, and subsequently moved to Washington, D.C. before the 2005 season and were renamed the Washington Nationals.
The Washington Nationals logo has had four logo variations, including the original design back in 1969 when the team was based in Montreal and called the Montreal Expos. See the different Washington Nationals logo designs that they have had over the years.
