Unlike many professional teams, the Pittsburgh Penguins have had the same name since they were founded in 1967. They are one of the expansion teams from the original expansion from six teams to twelve. The Pittsburgh Penguins used to play their home games in the Civic Arena which was known to Pittsburgh fans as “The Igloo” up until the end of the 2009–10 season. They then moved into their new arena, called the PPG Paints Arena, to begin their 2010–11 NHL season.
The Pittsburgh Penguins logo has had six logo variations, including the original design back in 1967. See the different Pittsburgh Penguins logo designs that they have had over the years.
