Here are some interesting facts about the Detroit Pistons:
The franchise was founded in 1941 was founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was known as the Fort Wayne (Zollner) Pistons. They were a member of the National Basketball League (NBL). They then joined the Basketball Association of America (BAA) in 1948 and in 1949 the NBL and BAA joined together to become the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team moved to Detroit in 1957. Some of the key players who played for Detroit over the years included Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Vinnie Johnson, Joe Dumars, Rick Mahorn, John Salley, Dennis Rodman and Adrian Dantley. They were coached by Chuck Daly who decided that their best chance to succeed was through a more aggressive style of play, and in the 80’s, earned them the nickname “Bad Boys”.
