Here are some interesting facts about the Chicago White Sox:
The franchise was founded in 1901 and is one of the original eight American League (AL) franchises. They were originally called the Chicago White Stockings but they changed their name to the Chicago White Sox in 1903. The team played in the 1919 World Series but it was marred by what is known as the “Black Sox Scandal”, where a number of the White Sox players were accused of fixing the outcome of baseball games, thus helping gamblers. As a result, the commissioner for Major League Baseball banned six of those players from Major League Baseball for life.
The Chicago White Sox logo has had eighteen logo variations, including the original design back in 1901 when the team was known as the Chicago White Stockings. See the different Chicago White Sox logo designs that they have had over the years.
